USER EXPERIENCE DESIGNER — ACCESSIBILITY
To perform central oversight, technical leadership, expert guidance, coordination, and support to Dartmouth's departments and programs in their use of the web, with a focus on promoting, assessing, and maintaining web accessibility.
Consulting
• Performs regular accessibility audits of Dartmouth websites and web applications.
• Performs accessibility audits for websites and applications under consideration for purchase and deployment at Dartmouth.
• Works with vendors to implement accessibility features for software in use at Dartmouth.
• Reviews and monitors externally hosted Dartmouth sites (YouTube, Facebook, etc) for accessibility.
Outreach and Training
• Develops and implements outreach and training for web accessibility.
• Trains clients on using accessibility monitoring software and evaluating and responding to reports.
• Develops handouts and online training materials.
• Serves as the first point-of-contact for questions about implementing web accessibility.
Design and Production
• Works with colleagues in Web Services to develop accessible templates and documents.
• Oversees captioning service for digital media published on the Dartmouth website or Dartmouth's YouTube channel.
• Responsible for researching and implementing tools for monitoring website accessibility compliance.
• Oversees the configuration and use of accessibility evaluation and reporting tools.
• Provides web design and production support for web pages and web applications.
• Collaborates with clients to integrate content into sites.
Communication
• Provides mentorship on accessibility, usability, and user-centered design to colleagues, clients, and the campus.
• Develops understanding of similarities and differences in diverse cultures through employee education programs.
• Strives to ensure that all web interfaces are accessible to a diverse population.
