A while back Elle had mentioned she was in a situation where a there was
push back on a visible Skip to Main Content link. Below is a proof of
concept of a possible solution:
http://www.webhipster.com/testing/accessibility/jquery-skip-widget/
I see this widget as a conversation starter for ways in which to enhance
the general user experience.

The following example is a basic scaffolding of what else I had in mind for
a "skip to main content" widget:

Used jQuery UI for a quick setup.
Looking for thoughts, criticism, new ideas, etc.

Vincent,
Most of my federal government clients have scripts and widgets disabled by
their IT departments.
I wonder how well this method will work on those workstations. It would be
worthwhile to test if the jQuery script is affected or not.

If you are building the widget from a skip link in HTML mark-up, you'll
still have the basic skip link functionality. Didn't build in any CSS3
fallback Would be good for someone to add. Maybe I'll put it on github.

There's two things I spot that tarnish this some:
1- after I use the link once, it disappears, and no longer available
for me to use, unless I hit back
2- also, how would multiple links be done if it disappears.
