AT&T is continuing to expand its accessibility group – the Corporate Accessibility Technology Office (CATO). There are multiple openings in Austin, Texas, for accessibility professionals
and in major cities nationwide for Web accessibility professionals. Be a part of implementing the new regulations requiring Accessibility in communications products and services.

These regulations are based on the U.S. 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010. If hired
into one of these positions, you will help project managers understand the requirements of the CVAA, work compliance with those requirements
into their projects, and, as also required by the CVAA, document their
efforts, successes, and work remaining to be done. (And I hope my
friends at the FCC will pardon me for this gross oversimplification of the CVAA.)

Go to http://att.jobs/ to apply online. To find each of the three types of openings, search for these job numbers: 1334873, 1334887, & 1335058.

Web Accessibility – Locations Nationwide:
These positions are focused on Web accessibility, browsers, and apps.
1334873 Professional – Business Mgmt. (Web Accessibility)

Broad Accessibility – Austin, TX:
These positions deal with all facets of accessibility across various types of telecommunications devices and for all types of disabilities.
1334887Principal – Product Development Engineer (Shared Services)
1335058Senior – Product Development Engineer (Shared Services)

The Web site provides a complete job description, including the
requirements for education, experience, and skills. Once there, you can
put your resume in for official consideration.

Do not be discouraged by the requirements for specific types of degrees –
if you are interested and have accessibility skills, pleases do apply.

If you get a message that you do not meet requirements and you are certain that you do – contact me directly at my AT&T address: Cliff_Tyllick [at] labs.att.com. I will forward your concern to the
respective hiring manager.

AT&T is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer, and we are
committed to hiring a diverse and talented workforce. EOE/AA/M/F/D/V

Best regards,
Cliff Tyllick

I'm following up on this notice because I have received some questions about the complex process of using www.att.com/jobs.

If because of a disability you are unable or limited in your ability to apply via att.jobs, you may request reasonable accommodations by sending an e-mail to = EMAIL ADDRESS REMOVED = . Mention the job title and number in your e-mail. (See the numbers and brief descriptions in the original message below.)

If you are able, follow these instructions to complete the application (ironically, except for improper use of "alt" tags, this page is probably easier to use with no vision and a screen reader.
1. From att.jobs, use the Search in the lower right corner to search for “accessibility.”
2. If you see no results, scroll down. They are just off the screen.
3. In the list, find and click on
the job title.

4. Although it might look like you just returned to the top
of the page you were already on, scroll down again. You will see the job description in the location where the results of your first search
appeared.
5. Scroll down to the end of the job description. Confirm
that the Requisition ID matches the job number you are looking for.
6. Below the job description, click
“Apply Now.”
7. Your browser will open a new window. In most cases, this
screen seems to end with what seems to be a footer reading “Welcome. You are not signed in.” at lower left and “Sign in.” at lower right. It is
not a footer. Scroll past it, read the privacy policy, and, if you agree, click the “Agree” button below
it.
8. The next screen looks almost exactly like the screen you
just left. Scroll all the way to the bottom and click the very last form control, “New User.”
9. Set up your profile and continue with the job application process.
The good news is that once you have completed a profile, it remains on file, is easy to update, and can be used to apply for any job you feel you are qualified for. Indeed, I've mentioned three positions, but if you read through the list produced when you do that search, you will find openings for system administrators, college interns, and many other positions. You might qualify for one or more!

Best of luck if you choose to apply—and thanks for considering working with AT&T.

I would simply like to read the position descriptions, salary, and requirements. Is there any way you can just send this type of information?

Yes. Fastest way—and whenever it seems like the link has taken you nowhere, SCROLL DOWN (the relevant information is often hidden below a false bottom):
1. Go to http://att.jobs/.
2. Search for "accessibility." (Apologies for earlier instructions to search on job numbers.)
3. Look in the list (scroll down!) for these job titles:
* Professional – Business Management (Web Accessibility) [says it's in Dallas only because that's AT&T headquarters. Actually location flexible, across the U.S.]
* Principal – Product Development Engineer (Shared Services) [Don't be dissuaded by "Engineer" in the title, but this position is in Austin, TX—not nationwide. See below.]
* Senior – Product Development Engineer (Shared Services) [Don't be dissuaded by "Engineer" in the title, but this position is in Austin, TX—not nationwide. See below.]
4. Click a job title. The link will take you to a full description of that job, including qualifications. [Remember: Scroll down!]
5. If salary information is essential, e-mail me and I will give you the address of our recruiter in Human Resources. (All I'm allowed to say is that it made me ecstatic on my move from a state job that paid better than most state jobs pay.)

6. Do not be discouraged by the requirements for specific types of degrees –
if you are interested and have accessibility skills, please do apply.
7. To apply, look for "Apply Now." This takes you through the process of registering and then building your profile. [Again I stress: Scroll down!]
8. You will get an e-mail confirming that your profile has been built. Hooray! But don't stop.
9. If the system logged you out, log back in.
10. Find the job again and choose to apply for it. [I forget how this interface works and, as an insider, don't have any way of seeing it.]
11. Complete the relevant questionnaires.
12. Complete the online equivalent of signing your application.
13. Submit your application.
14. If you're interested in more than one position, complete steps 10 through 13 for each of the other positions that pique your interest.
These openings will remain posted through May 8.

Best of luck, if you choose to apply.
