When I was first hired here nearly 14 years ago I purchased a new Dell
Dimension desktop - 433MHz Intel Celeron processor with 256MB RAM. A
few years later (probably 2004) I recycled that 'old' computer, gave
it a upgrade of another 128MB of RAM and put it in use as the WebAIM
e-mail list server.

This server has run faithfully ever since. It once had nearly 4 years
of continuous up time. It has handled almost 50,000 list messages and
sent around 80 MILLION e-mails!

Today, I retired that old machine and gave the list a much-needed
hardware and software upgrade. Perhaps someday you will find that old
Dell in the WebAIM museum - http://webaim.org/temp/OldMailServer.jpg

With the upgrade comes a few list adjustments to meet Yahoo/AOL's
ridiculous DMARC mail requirements. You'll notice that the FROM name
for list messages will now include "via WebAIM". If you reply to a
list message, your message will now be addressed to both the sender of
the message you're replying to AND the list itself. This should cause
no notable changes to how the list functions. If you notice any
issues, please let me know.

I also remind you to continue keeping list topics related to web
accessibility. The 10s of thousands of messages in the list archives
(http://webaim.org/discussion/archives) dating back to 1999 contain a
wealth of information for you to search.

I'd like to also take this opportunity to thank you for your
participation on the list. Someone once described this list as the
water cooler of web accessibility. Thanks for making it a friendly and
informative resource for all.
