Subject: NVDA: Showing Images That Have No Alt Textt

Hi,
My apologies for sending this, but I'm frustrated. I cannot seem to find a setting in NVDA that will make it show me images without alt text. I may have accidentally turned that off. It came up in my mind, because I happened to turn on JAWS and right away, I saw an image that had no alt text. I could tall this because I saw the file name and recognized it.
Thanks.
Jim

I am not a big NVDA user, but I don't think it has that capability. NVDA does not drill through the HTML tags of a DOM element like JAWS does. JAWS drills in-depth to try to get as much information to the user as possible.
I know in JAWS you can switch that feature off. I do not recall seeing it anywhere in NVDA's settings.
Why not use JAWS if you are testing to capture those images.

Hi Lucy:
You can move to a graphic or immage on a page using the Quick nav key g
or shift g to move backwards.
You can then use the Jaws key + shift +control + f1 to display the
elements on the page starting with the focussed item.
There are also numerous conbfiguration options which controls what Jaws
exposes with regard to graphics.

you can find the following settings in the settings center under
graphics.
Use this series of radio buttons to specify how you want JAWS to
announce images within HTML documents. Select All Images to have JAWS
speak any graphic it encounters, even ones without labels. Select
Labeled Images to have JAWS speak only those graphics with alternate
text specified within the HTML document. Select No Images to have JAWS
ignore any image it finds, even if it is labeled. The default setting is
Labeled Images.
