Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone had a preference between Webex and Adobe Connect
in terms of accessibility (not price, functions, etc.).

For myself, I have preferred Connect the last year, but just wanted to see
what everyone thought in terms of accessibility. Or do you have a different
program you like better?

Cheers

Lisa,

we are in the middle of testing Adobe Connect and Zoom.

So far Adobe is winning because we can not seem to get ZoomText to work with
Zoom.

If anyone has tips for getting ZoomText to work with Zoom, please give a
shout.

HI TJ,

Interesting to know! If you find out more about the ZoomText and Zoom, do
let me know, I am curious!

Cheers

Hello everyone. I teach remote classes and I recently had a blind student share with me that Adobe Connect is very much more accessible then WebEx. The class was being taught with WebEx, and he had a lot of problems with it. For instance, the chat feature didn't work for him. As an instructor, I have noticed that while WebEx is running, many of my key commands that I use to demonstrate screen readers stop working, for example key combinations to enter and read through a table on a web page.

Hi Karin,

Thanks for sharing that information. Connect has been good for a while, so
good to know it is still doing okay.

Cheers

I tested a range of browser-based internet messaging apps (anymeeting, zoom, google hangouts, some other one who keeps sending me spam). None of them let me pass on my zoomed screen to others but I suspect that's to do with browsers getting their graphics from some separate channel than what I'm getting on my screen via ZT. Therefore I don't think any of these could do that.

If WebEx can that would be amazing (maybe it can because it uses Java but then that's one reason we stopped using it, there was a security issue (CVE-2017-3823)).

Zoom was great in general for accessibility for conferencing, but still looking for what could let me show my magnified screen to others without taking pictures with a separate camera.

cheers

Hi Mallory,

Good to know, thanks! So were you using browser zoom or computer magnification? I am wondering if one would work and the other not?

Plus, anyone use these with Dragon? I will be testing it with that soon, but was curious.

Cheers

Mallory and TJ, could you clarify what you mean by "works"? It seems there are two cases:
1. As an observer of a presentation, can you use ZoomText to meet your needs?
2. As a presenter, does it show others what you see on your screen?

Ideally, it should do both, of course. In real life, though, you might put up with a failure in the second case if the first works well.

I agree with Mallory on her comments on Zoom and ZT, but I haven't used it
in over 6 months. It is just pretty clunky in some features, meaning a user
may need to figure out how some stuff works versus just jumping into a
meeting. Also, there are or were issues with color contrast.

ZoomText is doing processing on the video card, the output of which is not available to other applications. The solution is to use a scan converter, which takes the signal from the output of the video card. This can be fed back into the same machine via a USB port and used as the video source for other applications. This is how we do screen recordings of ZoomText when we're doing user testing.

The product we use is the Avermedia ExtremeCap U3, which costs about £120 plus shipping.
