Hello, can anyone on this list shed light on why a Web App on an IOS device cannot pronounce USD as "Us Dollar"? Right now the pronunciation gets treated as a word. I'm not sure of anyway to adjust the dictionary of any IOS device to change this internally.

Default pronunciation is determined by the screen reader, not what content creators or coders do.
Take it up with your particular manufacturer, such as Freedom Scientific and NVDA.
Depending upon whether you're coding an HTML website, creating a Word or PowerPoint document, or remediating a PDF, you can put expansion text on the USD with Actual Text to voice it as US Dollars.

Assume that that's the same for IOS which was my question. I understand about NVDA JAWS and such. I just haven't found anything on the Apple Accessibility site regarding how to resolve this.

Hello,
I am not sure on this, but I believe that Safari at least supports Speech CSS so you might be able to do:
.usdSpan { spellout }
Documentation was found at:
https://css-tricks.com/lets-talk-speech-css/
I would be interested in knowing if this works.
Best wishes,

Ah, didn't consider that. Good point indeed.

The user can adjust this under settings for VoiceOver. There are options under the speech section for pronunciation.

Hello,
This is expected and preferred behavior.
There is an option to change pronunciations in the speech dictionary
though. Please look at:
https://www.apple.com/voiceover/info/guide/_1136.html
for more information.
Thanks,
