Subject: Accessible catalogues with InDesign Publish Online?
No previous message | Next message →
Hi all,
As you may know, Adobe InDesign has a feature â Publish Online â that allows authors to create flipable catalogues and such for online publication. The result appears to be some sort of HTML5-wrapper around the actual content. Does anyone know the exact format of the contents being wrapped? And does anyone have any insights into the accessibility of this and whether preexisting accessibility features from the InDesign source are retained in the online publications?
Venligst/Kind regards
Lars

Last time I checked, Publish Online has no accessibility whatsoever, other than it's HTML.
It's based on HTML5 and is, essentially, a custom form of EPUB.
You can publish it only to Adobe's servers, not to your own website. And according to users in the Adobe Forums, kiss it goodbye if your Creative Cloud subscription lapses.

Hi Lars,
Does this help? Adobe CC InDesign V14 Accessibility Conformance Report
<https://www.adobe.com/accessibility/compliance/adobe-indesign-cc-v14-acr.html>
(VPAT)
In general, different companies' VPAT reports vary widely in quality. For a
clue about trustworthiness, I like to check whether they offer enough
detail in their remarks and notes. (Trust but verify.)
Looking at this particular VPAT report from 2019, I'm not clear whether the
"Authored Content (HTML)" information addresses your Publish Online
question, but you could ask Adobe at their email address in the report.
Cheers,
Mitchell Evan, CPWA
