Subject: Audio recording - query

Hello Experts,
Looking for your esteem suggestion for one doubt.
We have a chat bot and in that we have option to type or audio record the query & submit it. If I am recording the query then what ever I am speaking that is getting placed in text area of chat bot. Now if JAWS is ON then audio recorder is also adding the same text which is getting announced by screen reader again in chat bot text area. I am not sure how to handle this situation.
Kindly help.
Regards
Gaurav

That's more of a functional/developer issue than an accessibility issue.
If you're using a microphone that picks up ambient sounds, such as a usb
microphone sitting on your desk, then it'll pick up your voice and the
screen reader voice and you can't split them. It'd be the same if there
was a person standing next to you and you were both talking (intentionally)
in order to record the query.
You can recommend that if someone wants to record their chatbot question,
they use a headset or earbuds. Then the screen reader audio would be
playing in the headset and not be audible for the headset microphone to
pick up. I just tried a quick test with the Voice Recorder app in Windows
10 and it worked fine.

What comes to mind is using headphones or earbuds to be hearing JAWS output and not have that picked up my your microphone input that the bot is listening to.

Is the problem that JAWS is reading the text you have recorded at the same time that you are recording it? That would make it virtually impossible to speak I imagine.
If that's the problem then I imagine the user would simply mute JAWS or mute their whole machine while they are recording their query. I don't think that would be difficult for them.
Have I understood you correctly?

You wrote: "If I am recording the query then what ever I am speaking

Your above statement seems to indicate that it is a "dictate" feature
generally available off a mobile device's onscreen keyboard.
windows has a built in program for dictation.

I have played with it in the past and dictated text with jaws running
but I have not used it with NVDA.
On the other hand, if the intent is audio-recording, my first
impression is that the audio content is being recorded into an audio
file to be sent as the message and that the receiver has to play it.
Thanks,
Sailesh
