Hi,
We want to do remote user tests with screen reader users. Currently we
are testing apps on Android mobile phones.
When we use Zoom on Android, we can share the screen of the mobile
phone, but not the audio (neither system sounds nor TalkBack voice output).
Any ideas, how to do this?
Thanks a lot.

As far as I am aware, there is no way to do that. Our solution is to mirror the mobile screen onto a PC and do the Zoom call from the PC. A microphone connected to the PC will pick up all the audio output from the phone. It helps if the user has a good quality microphone, not the rubbish one you get in a laptop.

Hi there,
I assume you've selected the option in Zoom to share system sounds when
sharing the screen with the other participants. I must admit I have not
tried it on an Android phone, but I have successfully demonstrated
Voiceover on iOS on Zoom via a Windows laptop.

Not sure about Android, but I know if I connect to Zoom from my PC and then
share, there's an option to share my iPhone screen (if it's on the same
wifi). The audio from VoiceOver comes through Zoom.

Hey Glen,
I thank you for the tip. I've almost got my iPhone sharing.
Thing is; my iPhone is on the 5G portion of the wireless network and the computer hosting the Zoom meeting is on the non 5G version of the network. My iPhone see's my computer when I perform the Screen Share via Control Center (as the documentation suggests) but I continually get an error.
I'm curious if you know what version of Zoom, the iPhone operating system, and any other assistive technologies you might have in play? I'm using the latest release of Zoom, latest release of Windows, latest release of iOS, and latest release of JAWS 2021.
Much appreciated (and sorry to hijack the Android conversation),
David

Hi David,
Once you are connected to Zoom from your computer, in the Sharing Options, it is possible to allow multiple participants to share their screen. Enable this option. Then connect to the same Zoom meeting from your iPhone and share your screen. The iPhone output should then be visible on the computer and VoiceOver will be audible from the computer/headphone mike.
This works regardless of whether your phone and computer are on the same network.

I've never had any luck joining Zoom from my iphone and having the
VoiceOver audio be shared. It shares other audio, such as if I play a
youtube video from my phone, but it won't share the voiceover audio. I've
always had to join Zoom from my PC and then use the "share iphone" option
from Zoom on my PC. That allows me to share both youtube (or whatever)
audio *and* VoiceOver audio.
My iphone is the latest, 14.7.1
Zoom on my iphone (which I don't use for sharing VoiceOver audio) is 5.7.5
Zoom on my PC is 5.7.4
Windows 10
