Nathan,
1. Control plus Alt plus N to start NVDA
2. Insert plus N to get to NVDA menu
3. down arrow to Help menu
4. right arrow to open help submenu then down arrows till you hear "check for update" and hit enter key
That will tell you if there is an update to apply
