Subject: PowerPoint Master Slide image alt-text?

Hi all. I received a question from a colleague I was not sure of the answer. They are trying to add alt text to a PowerPoint presentation. The office uses master slides for some of the slides they keep in common for all presentations. I'd like to add alt text to some of the images in the master slides. I know how to add alt text to images in master slides, but when I review my entire presentation, I don't see any evidence that the alt text translates to the presentation. Do you know whether alt text in master slides comes through during presentations? It seems like images from a master slide are not read by assistive technology, as the images do not appear in the Reading Pane and you cannot select the images in the slides created from the Master. So any images we want assistive technology to notice cannot be on the master slide?

Am I missing something here?

Thank you,

Joseph

Graphics placed on the Slide Masters are automatically artifacted, so no Alt Text is required.
If the graphics are to be discovered by AT — and therefore need Alt Text — don't put them on a Slide Master, but instead on a live presentation slide.

Yes, that's correct.
