The
AIS toolbar for IE has some simulations built in. Not fantastic and foolproof,
but they can give a really rough idea.

IBM
aDesigner can simulate visual impairments (colour deficiency low vision, etc)
quite effectively as well.

Vischeck can give you an idea of how your site appears to the
color-blind. Not perfect, but another useful tool.

Hi
Marc, <FONT
face="Comic Sans MS" color=#800080>
Webaim has a screen reader simulation.  Taken from my course:
<P class=MsoNormal
style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt 0.25in; TEXT-INDENT: -0.25in; mso-list: l2 level1 lfo3; tab-stops: list .25in"><FONT
color=#000000>Low Vision Simulation - <A
href="http://www.webaim.org/simulations/lowvision"><FONT
face=Arial>http://www.webaim.org/simulations/lowvision<FONT
face=Arial>.
This simulation requires Shockwave, which automatically asks you<SPAN
class=730133916-18112004> if <SPAN
class=730133916-18112004>wish to download before launching the
simulation.  The download and
install is fairly quick.  The
simulation is worth the effort.
<FONT
color=#000000>
<SPAN
style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA"><FONT
color=#000000>Screen Reader Simulation - <A
href="http://www.webaim.org/simulations/screenreader">http://www.webaim..org/simulations/screenreader<FONT
color=#000000>.  Again this requires
Shockwave.  And this simulation may
take a while to load.<SPAN
style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA">
And then
there's surfing without a mouse -- that freaks out people, and surfing with
images turned off.  Good luck.  Cheers,
Glenda

I have some students working on a realtime visual impairment
simulator for Windows 2000/XP. There is a very good beta
version available at:
http://slappy.cs.uiuc.edu/cs492/Group2/vis/index.php
We are looking for feedback on the quality of the simulations
and new features.
Please give it a try and let us know what you think.
Jon
