Subject: ADA and Other Common Symbols as Free Web Graphics?

Hi all.

I've been reading a lot lately about both cognative disabilities, and one
idea I wanted to implement that would help many visitors with certaion (as
well as without any!) cognative disabilities would be to include common
symbols alongside related text and headers in my web sites.

I thought it would be easy to find symbols as web graphics/fonts available
for free on-line, but I'm having a lot of trouble. For instance, I was
looking for a nice, clean, no-strings-attached graphic of the international
TTD symbol. Does anyone know if there is a free, legal resource out there
for these types of icons? Otherwise, any good for-purchase web site would be
appreciated.

The closest I've come to finding anything was on the Graphic Artists
Guild site. They have a fairly limited collection of common "disability
access symbols" http://gag.org/resources/das - no TTD one, unfortunately.

May be worth trawling sites like www.fontshop.com (although it's a pain
because there's no keyword search, so potentially have to go through all
1200+ symbol sets).

I think the reason you can't find the TTD symbol is that it's not a TTD.
It's either called a TTY or a TDD in the US, and sometimes TT (text
telephone) in other countries. The prefered term in the American Deaf
community is TTY. The symbol can be found on the site you indicated,
http://gag.org/resources/das. Look under Telephone Typewriter (TTY).
