The @media conference returns in 2006 after an incredibly successful
conference in 2005.

This time there are more presentations and panels, spread across two
tracks, and more speakers, including Eric Meyer, Dan Cederholm, Dave
Shea, Andy Clarke, Jon Hicks, Molly Holzschlag, Tantek

I know that I can't afford to go to @media but I still felt aggrieved
when I looked at the schedule and discovered that (as always with
multi-track events) two sessions that I was interested in are at the
same time! (And, yes, one of them was your session.) When that happens
I always feel that I haven't had my money's worth because I didn't get
to see/hear all that I wanted to.

Pity that Eric Meyer isn't on the CSS3 panel.

Its also a pity that it is so expensive. I work for a charity and there is no discount.
It may be fine to spend these amounts for large corporations but I do
think there should be some flexibility for others (on the coal face as such)
who could benefit (and contribute) by attending.

Yup, I recognised those bags from the RNIB/Techshare thing earlier in the year, and both broke within a day of normal usage...shame.

Therein lies the rub: some companies may be able to afford this and
other, more expensive, conferences, but charities, education, public
sector, even small businesses, can't afford it. Even without
accommodation and travel it is twice the amount that I would be allowed
to spend.

That was a big issue last year, poor Andy Budd realised halfway
through his presentation that he is preaching to the choir. The
audience was very mixed, but most were professional web developers
with several years experience. Mid-level I'd say.

insights into what Doug had done for Blogger, the story of WaSP and
some good presentations on how assistive technology works for people
with disabilities (which culminated in the show presenter telling the
blind presenter thank you and that his presentation was a real eye
opener :-/) .

>From a networking POV it was excellent. The WaSP DOMscripting Task
Force was formed in the aftermath and it was generally good to pin a
face on the email rants.

I actually proposed Vivabit a presentation on taking web standards to
the enterprise level and what to expect with big clients, let's see if
they want it.

Those who are self employed are frequently in the same boat. Especially, if
they have to travel internationally to attend.

Does anyone know what level of knowledge the conference will be pitched at?

as i would probably have to pocket the expense myself, therefore it
needs to be a worthwile investement.
