Hi,

Do you know anything why WCAG 2.2 is not recommended yet? Maybe this
version will be skipped and we move straight to 3.0?

The W3C process for candidate recommendations is, quite rightly, very slow. There are long periods for public review and revision to ensure that new success criteria are well defined, achievable and testable. This is especially important because of the policy that the normative text of success criteria cannot be amended once it has become a recommendation.

This isn't like agile development where you can rapidly publish any old rubbish and fix it later. It's got to be right first time because it may have to last, unchanged, for a decade or more.

In a recent email, the W3C stated that WCAG 3.0 will not become a recommendation for at least 4 years. Even when it does, it won't replace WCAG 2.x, at least not for some time.
