Hi all,

for some forms with green, blue, purple, etc, background colors, a
developer has added a 2px white focus indicator that's offset by a 2px
black field border (that also only appears on focus). To my eyes, the
white focus indicator does not stand out enough from the white color of the
actual form field, even when the white indicator is offset by 2px. WCAG
2.4.13 requires a 2px indicator that has a contrast of 3:1 to the
pickles that it replaces on focus. It does not talk about the issue that
I'm working with. Does anyone have a WCAG rule or personal anecdote that
would cover a white indicator offset from a white field? Trying to have
something more substantial to support my reasons for rejecting that idea.

Thanks!

The Understanding section of 1.4.11 talks a little about this, in
particular figure 3,
https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG21/Understanding/non-text-contrast.html#figure-text-box-dark-bg-light-border,
but it's the opposite of what you're looking for. It explains why your
situation is allowed and not a failure.

You mentioned 1.4.13. Are you testing for AAA conformance?
