Thanks for your explanation, Jared! It makes total
sense.

I'm wondering about a situation I have: when the user
selects one option on a form, the JavaScript
automatically selects another option higher up on the
page (so, in theory, the user has already read that
part and made their selections). And, in this
situation, it isn't quite as intuitive or logical as
your Wave Preferences form.

What would be a good way of explaining what's going
on? Is the title attribute the appropriate place? Or
some "hidden" text?

Or a redesign of the form...
