Wendy,

For someone using a screen reader, automatic page refreshes can be annoying
as well as the source of accessibility problems.

Every time the page refreshes, the screen reader will start reading from the
top of the page again.

I also expect that people using slower connection speeds might find the
automatic refresh annoying as well.
