Hi Folks,

Finally found a good way to build a theme switcher that doesn't rely on js.
I've noticed several calls on the WordPress forum for a high contrast theme,
so I figured I would wrap it into one I'm building, and offer it for public
download.

I figure I'd place the link in the upper right hand corner, just above the
site search box. Since I want people to be able to switch back to the
default theme if they want, I figured I'd create a select menu for
switching. My question is, how do you think I can best word the label and
select menu text.

Is a label that says "change theme" with options of "high contrast" and
"default" easily understood?

Dean,

Have you considered that perhaps folks who *need* high contrast would
already have either modified their desktop settings or employed assistive
technology on their computer which handles this for them?

Regardless, to answer your question, I think your options of "High Contrast"
and "Default" are fine.

More importantly, IMO, is to just ensure that the default theme already
contains sufficient contrast to begin with.

Hi Karl,

The idea to do it came from posts like these:

eme/

http://wordpress.org/support/topic/154988

If people who needed high contrast were already covered, I'm guessing people
wouldn't be asking for high contrast themes and theme switchers.

Hi,

It is not that a person always use his / her own computer that is setup according to his / her own needs. We access Internet from public computers, also.

so as far as I can think having an option on screen is good idea. not only for contrast but also for the font size option as many people don't know they can enlarge the text from the browser menu. We can add the instruction how to do that from menu but, on screen option are much quicker and easy for user.

While I imagine the term "theme" is understood by those folks building
content in Wordpress, I'm not sure that it has much meaning to average
*visitors* to the pages.

Maybe something more specific/direct, like "change text/background
colors"? If those are the aspects of the theme that would change.
