Ogg: [WebAIM] Accessibility Of Image Backgrounds

HI.
if you visit http://tracs.co.nz/marvin
and a sighted friend, helping me out.
but he says that i have a image with a layover background.
can any one take a look and help me out?
how to do this in css, as a blind web developer, and cannot edit
graphics
using a screen reader like jaws for windows from freedom scientific
http://www.freedomscientific.com
can any one take a look and help me out.
and also any other comments about the page.
and then once got the front page up and running, then can copy the
source
code and edit my other pages for my site.
cheers Marvin.

It seems to me that from an accessibility standpoint the background
image is not an issue. It is basically a "decorative" image, without
any substantive content, and so does not need an ALT value.

Actually, the issue that I see is with the ALT value of the "logo.png"
image. You have the ALT specified as "Universe Logo". Since the image
has text in it, typically the ALT would be the same as the text, so
the ALT ought to be "Marvin Hunkin", or possibly "Marvin Hunkin logo,
an image of moons circling a planet" if you want to give a more
complete description.

That's my take on it anyway.

HTH,

Keith
