Has anyone had issues with JAWS 13.0 Professional Installation on Windows 7 Enterprise with Parallels? If so, what did you do to resolve this issues?

We are experiencing an issue in which during the install, we receive the following error message:
“The JAWS setup package could not install the required component vcredist2005_x86). The process will now exit”

Upon contacting Freedom Scientific, we received a response:
"The JAWS(r) screen reading software is not supported when running in a virtual environment. There have been users to get this to work, but it is not supported by our team."

We did have this problem with JAWS 12.0. We even tried uninstalling 12 (including any references in the registry files) to install 13.0, but continue to get this same error message.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Not directly I'm afraid, but I think the file in question is used by
the Nuance ETI TTS. Judging by the file name, it looks as though it's a
32bit version. Probably a silly suggestion, but is it worth checking you
have the right Jaws version (32/64bit) for your OS?

Otherwise, it might be worth installing the missing file manually.
It's possible Jaws might throw up similar errors if it needs/thinks its
missing later versions of that file though. Guess if installing this file
manually worked, it might do for any other files that it thinks are missing.

Léonie.

Have you got an open internet connection that is the new ocr feature and it needs a live connection to get it. or download the file and put it in the same folder and the installer and it should find it.

Thank you, everyone.

We do have the correct version of the software and internet connection.
Adding the missing file manually from that CD caused a tmp directory error
message.

We found the only way to get this working was to download the demo version
from Freedom Scientific and then when prompted for the Authorization, we
popped in the disk that came with the software. So far, I am seeing all
of the items that are needed.

Thanks again!
