Subject: Accessibility Improvements to Google Apps
No previous message | No next message
Google has announced that it has made considerable changes to the suite of
applications known as Google Apps designed to improve how Apps works with
Assistive Technologies. After some strong criticism last year from the
Access Technology Higher Education Network (ATHEN) Google Apps Accessibility
Interest Group (published in October 2011), Google appears to have
responded. (See a summary of accessibility concerns posted here regarding
Google Apps for Education: http://tinyurl.com/c6q9tb8 )
General information is found in the following link including reference to a
new Administrator Guide to Accessibility:

.html
More specifics of the changes are listed in the following link to a Google
Groups message on the topic:

I am just starting to absorb all of this. Perhaps those closer to the ATHEN
research project will chime in here and explain the significance of these
changes and whether there are still accessibility issues that need to be
resolved.
