Subject: finding results after search query
No previous message | No next message
I need some advice please. We are working on a web app. On the page in question, the user selects some query choices from select lists and submits the choices. When the page posts back (asp.net) the page renders a table with data in it. The table appears at the bottom of the page, after navigation and the query select lists. I want screen reader users and keyboard users to be able to get to the results table immediately upon postback so they don't have to go through the navigation and the query select lists again. As it is now, the focus is back at the top of the page on postback.
How would a screen reader user typically get to the results quickly?
My thought is that we could put a "skip to results" link at the top of the page, but I'd rather return focus to the results area of the page directly. The problem is that focus can only programmatically be returned to a page control. Does anyone know how I might return focus to the results after postback, or am I making an issue out of a non issue?
Thank you,
