I am working on a Web application that presents a list of documents / folders like you see in your typical Operating System. The view we want to present is similar to the 'Icon' view in OS X, with folder and document icons arranged in rows within a scrollable view pane.
We want the application to ultimately be 508 compliant and will be using VoiceOver for checking accessibility via a screen reader.
Any help, guidance, or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Martin,
Did you ever get any responses from this? If not, I would be willing to test
any solutions you have come up with to see how they work in the windows
environment.

No, I didn't.
My priorities changes a little at work so I am not pursuing this at this time but will have to come back to it shortly.
If you know of any sites that present information like this well, please let me know so I can check them out.
Any other references, articles, or related documents would be appreciated.
