Hello WebAIMers!

I was hoping that some of you may be able to offer some assistance or point
me in the right direction.

I've been hunting/searching for samples of descriptive/described video for
online video content. So far I've had little luck. I'm unsure if this is a
geofencing issue or if there is a lack of it out there.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

Resources related to video description that come immediately to mind are:

National Center for Accessible Media
www.ncam.wgbh.org
in the U.S.

In Canada, Accessible Media Inc.
* www.ami.ca

These two organizations may be able to cite projects they've done for others.

It may be worth contacting colleges and universities to see what they
may have prepared and put online.

Hi Jennifer. Do you have a different web address? The one below is not working. Thank you

Looks like there's no www in the NCAM address:
http://ncam.wgbh.org/

Thanks for the correction, Patrick.

Apologies to all for my rush. It never pays.

But honestly, I almost didn't include NCAM at all; I'm surprised if
it's new to folks on this list since it's been around for so long.

Try out the Bridge Multimedia website, especially this page: http://www.bridgemultimedia.com/audiodesc_what.php

There are also a couple of archived webinars done by the VDRDC, which you can get to at the bottom of this page: http://webinars.dcmp.org/
In particular there is a webinar on tools for "do it yourself" description.

There's also some good guidance materials here: http://www.descriptionkey.org/

Hope this helps!

One source I like for descriptive videos is the University of Washington's DO-IT site: http://www.washington.edu/doit/Video/
The Media Access Group at WGBH has lists of described videos on TV, in theaters and on DVDs at : http://main.wgbh.org/wgbh/pages/mag/resources/dvs-home-video-catalogue.html

Isn't the failure of an address for the lack (or presence) of "www" a matter of how the site's server is set up? And isn't it standard for addresses to work both ways?

In other words, the owners of the website can and should take steps to ensure that we reach their site regardless of whether we start the address with "www." Right?

Right. It's something to remember to check for. A lot of hosts will set
that up for you by default, but if they haven't the option should be
available.
