Hi,

The recent post about testing with alternative user agents is really
pertinent to us at this time. While our department currently has an
initiative underway to make externally accessible websites W3C compliant as
far as accessibility is concerned, we are toying with the issue of how to
formally test each site... a sort of formal internal "sign-off" if you will.

What have some people used or proposed as a strategy for testing sites to
ensure their compliance?

At the State of Connecticut, we recommend webmasters follow this tutorial: Six Steps to Accessibility Certification http://www.cmac.state.ct.us/access/tutorials/certification.htm to bring their sites into compliance with our state policy.

When a webmaster requests that a site be reviewed for compliance, we use a Web Site Certification Checklist at: http://www.cmac.state.ct.us/access/documents/certchecklist.doc , the Checklist of Checkpoints for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 at: http://www.w3.org/TR/WAI-WEBCONTENT/full-checklist.html and an Evaluation Form at: http://www.cmac.state.ct.us/access/documents/checklist.doc

Feel free to use them if you wish.
