An automated tool is calling out aria-relevant="additions removals" as incorrect, but I thought that was a valid value for this attribute. Is this a false positive or is "additions removals" an invalid value?

Hi,
I've never seen this combination before, what is the author trying to do? Basically that combination is saying that newly added nodes should be announced as well as newly added ones, which would be very confusing.

The following section describes what each token value should do when applied if it helps:
http://whatsock.com/training/#hd25

(Which isn't to say that these combinations actually do this correctly in screen readers.)

Sorry, I miswrote that, this combo is saying that both newly added nodes plus newly removed ones should both be announced, which is confusing. :)

Ah, OK. I'm not sure what they intend, as it's a partner site. I'm eyeballing automated results in order to clean out any false positives and I wasn't sure if this qualified or not. Sounds to me like this is a true positive. Thanks Bryan!

Brian, do they have an aria-live or a role of status, log, or alert? If not, then that may be what's throwing the error.

Good call Nick

There must be an aria-live attribute, or one of the live region roles,
status, log, alert, marquee or timer.
I agree with Bryan, it's very unusual that users want removal of text
or nodes announced. There may be some situations , but in that case,
just use aria-relevant="all".

They do. The specific error message is "This element's aria-relevant attribute should only include one or more of the following text values: additions | additions text | all | removals | text.". since the value of the attribute is set to "additions removals", that would seem to fit the pattern of "one or more of the following text values".
