Questions, does JAWS read the Alt-Text in an Excel Table? And does that Alt-Text get converted to the PDF?

For images, yes, but for tables in Word, PowerPoint, Excel or Publisher, no.
None of the screen readers or Text-to-Speech tools (to my knowledge) ever
read the Alt text for tables created using Microsoft Office applications.
And it doesn't convert to anything in tagged PDF.

Hi Joseph,

Yes it does - I just tried it with Excel 2016 and JAWS 2020 and it worked. =
When I opened the worksheet JAWS told me there was an embedded object; I pr=
essed Ctrl + Shift + O to get a list of objects and JAWS told me it was a p=
icture, gave me the co-ordinates of the cells it covered and then read the =
alt text.
