Hi All,

First of all thanks to all the forum members for helping me in previous
accessibility issues.

I have a new one today and hoping to get it resolved by your valuable
insights :)

We have an animation video (with no audio) in our mobile app which is shown
during the onboarding for first time users and ends in like 30 seconds and
has a play again button at the end and the animation doesn't loop.

The animation has text alternates below but doesn't have player controls.

So, does the animation need to have player controls in our case ?

Thanks,
Sudheer

Check all your 1.2 SC's and look for Audio Describe. As there is a failure for audio describe. How is a blind person going to know what the onboarding information is showing when there is no audio without audio describe or some other means of obtaining the information? I am assuming the animation is showing the person something about the app.

Thanks Sean, like I have mentioned there is text below the video describing
the same as Video. So, are we good with the unavailability of player
controls?

Thanks,
Sudheer

Hi Sudheer,

If I go through WCAG 2.2.2, does the animation start automatically (YES),
does the animation last longer than 5 seconds (YES), is the animation
presented in parallel with other content (YES - there is a text
description), is the animation essential (NO - it can easily be replaced
with a text description).

Meaning, YES your experience would require a play/pause control.

It is unclear from your description whether the text "under" the animation
is actual text, or text embedded into the animation. As mentioned by a
previous poster, if it is not actual text, there needs to be an alternate
way to access the information for both screen reader users and users who
depend on altering the text font, text size, text color, etc. to access the
information.
