Hi everyone,

Does anyone know of accessible alternatives to RapidMiner? I'm looking for similar data science / predictive analytics software platforms that are accessible. What about Google Cloud AI platform, SAS Enterprise Miner, MATLAB? Anyone has any experience with these or similar other platforms as a screen reader user?

Best,
Tania

Hi,
I know there is an extension called SAS Graphics Accelerator. This allows screen reader users to create accessible graphs. I am not sure if this is what you want, however I thought I would put it out there.
The R programming language is workable, but couldn't figure out a way to read generated graphics.

There's an R plugin called BrailleR. https://github.com/ajrgodfrey/BrailleR
I'm not sure why it's been taken off the R version of CPAN: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/BrailleR/index.html
so possibly it's in an unstable form.

I heard a podcast about SAS (don't remember where, sorry), and was super
impressed by the work Ed Summers and his team at SAS are doing.

Here's a link to the SAS accessibility site:
https://www.sas.com/en_us/company-information/accessibility.html

Maybe there are some jump-off points at that site that could be valuable for
your inquiry?

Best,
David

Yes, SAS has done a ton of work in the accessibility area.

https://www.youtube.com/SASnewmedia/search?query=accessibility

We did a lot of work on SAS Enterprise Miner and Enterprise Guide. Well,
"we" isn't we anymore. I used to work there but retired.

I am not an expert in this area, but ...

I think SASS has an accessibility staff and has done some work

I think I remember that MathLab may be partially accessible, but not sure

R has accessibility components, particularly from the command line.
There is a blind r users group on nfbnet.org blindrug

There are two other lists on nfbnet.org which may help, blindmath and nfb-science.

Go to: http://www.nfbnet.org/mailman/listinfo/
And search for the list you want. You have to join a list to post.

There are several lists on nfbnet.org which may provide you with better info, you would have to join each list to post. Go to www.nfbnet.org/mailman/listinfo/
