It's impossible to post a message to any list without your e-mail
address being included - it will always appear in the FROM heading.
There's no way that this can be filtered.
We take many precautions to minimize spam. The list is set to reply-to
the list address itself, so any bot or compromised computer would
respond to the list itself rather than to the sender. We then filter
messages for spam quite extensively on the server itself and are quite
happy that only one or two spam messages have made it to the list in
the nearly 8 year history of this list (there's been around 8 million
messages delivered). All e-mail addresses are also filtered from the
web-based archives.
I just don't see how posting to this or any other list could result in
instant spam - I've never experienced or heard anyone complain about
it before. If you think there is a direct connection, please send me
details off-list so I can take proper action.
