Wai Aria how useful?

Hi,

How useful is WAI Aria to the average screen reader user who may not
be technically inclined?

Does this also help the mobility impaired user who is not visually impaired?

I have never integrated WAI ARIA into our sites, but as we are
thinking of AJAX and other technologies I'm wondering if this is a
good option?
