Thanks Deborah. As it seems there is no standard browser behavior and users may or may not know work-arounds to this type of functionality, it seems safest not to use it.

I'm a keyboard (voice, which is effectively keyboard) user, and I'm a web developer and I specialize in accessibility, and I DID NOT KNOW THIS.
