Quicken Blind is also under development. I will script for the highest
version so that you can use all the features. That way, it won't matter what
script you download, Quicken Blind will be compatible with both. The last
version of Quicken that was accessible I think was Quicken 2008.

Yes, you heard right. I am the author of Quickbooks Blind, a JAWS scripting
solution to use the popular book keeping and financial program, Quickbooks.
This was no rumour, it is in the final stages of development and is working
extremely well. I have found a way around so many barriers and it is going
to be a huge success. Right now, Intuit and the National Federation of the
Blind are interested in this project. We have had a demonstration and
meetings with the NFB and Intuit at the CSUN conference. Quickbooks Blind
was video taped showing its accessibility and how simple it really is to
use.
I am working with Intuit to become a partner and the NFB holds great
interest in getting the word out at many conferences to come. Freedom
Scientific will also be doing an interview in June podcast.
I have no official release date, but it is compatible with quickbooks 2011
and will be better for 2012. Earlier versions have not been tested, but it
should work. I am in touch with the Intuit Engineers and developers to make
any changes needed for accessibility.
There is much excitement in this project and I am working quickly to get it
wrapped up.
I will have a site up soon for its distribution. Intuit and I are still
working out some last initiatives to make this really change the face of
accessibility.
There is already development for quicken as well, and eventually Turbo Tax.
Intuit has suggested that I announce this information so we can start
getting the buzz around because this is going to happen no matter the
outcome.
My site www.DoItBlind.com has projects I am working on and already I have
tackled a few web accessibility milestones and have made Rhapsody and iTunes
extremely accessible. You can find the links on the site.
I am a new comer to this email list, so I will be putting out news as it
becomes available.
Thanks to you all in the blind community, Blind Tunes for iTunes has reached
over 15,000 users so far and growing rapidly. I have it in almost a dozen
languages and packaged up all my scripts to be multi lingual. Rhapsody Blind
is translated into French and Spanish as well.
Quickbooks will undoubtedly be translated as well.
I am also on other mailing lists, but I had to join this one as well as the
information I give out can be very valuable for those looking for a solution
to something. I have also contacted Spottified to see if they are interested
in blind accessibility as well. Hopefully they bite.
For now, I am waist deep in development of Quickbooks Blind. I am hoping for
an early release, but we'll see how this pans out.
Thanks for reading,
John Martyn
