refocusing content after a filter is applied.

Hi,

We are updating the search functionality for our site. On the
details page the user will read the an initial data set will will be
able to filter it. In some instances the data set could be quite
large.

The filter is located below the initial set of data. When the user
filters the data and clicks the submit, the new data set will replace
the original set via AJAX ABOVE the area where the filter is.

The screen reader does read the change but doesn't change the focus to
read the new content. I had to tab up to the change.
How would I refocus so the screen reader changes focus?
