I am trying to define a set of keys for a non-screen reader based
application. The idea is that a screen reader will announce that there is
bespoke audio content on the page and that it should be switched off. At
this point, the 'bespoke' system navigation should be used.

Ideally, I'd like to define a set of navigation controls that match the most
used screen reader's common core controls. This way, it would not take any
re-mapping.

I have found out what the key strokes are for Connect Outloud (which I
assume also applies to Jaws).

However, my questions for the group are:

* Should I aim to map keys to a standard full keyboard with number pad or
should I aim to use only keys that would appear on a laptop
* Can anyone supply me with the core control keys for Window Eyes, Home Page
Reader -- and any other significant packages out there that I should take
into consideration.

My current thinking is to match Jaws, and steer clear of any keys that are
used for different functions on other packages.

Of course, there is also the issue of using keys that are reserved for the
browser - this can present a new layer of problems, as has already been
mentioned on this list! Don't worry about that aspect for the moment though!

The givens, I think are that:

* Tab SHIFT + Tab = hop from field to field (in a form) or from link to link
* SPACE selects/deselects a control
* UP ARROW = Say Prior Line
* DOWN ARROW = Say Next Line
* CTRL+UP ARROW = Say Prior Paragraph
* CTRL+DOWN ARROW = Say Next Paragraph
* CTRL = shut up Connect Outloud

In addition I thought that the following would be useful
M = mute/unmute (as a permanent feature - the idea is that the audio content
is available to sighted people too, and that they could click a
graphic/button to toggle this sound element)
