Re: Audio descriptions

Start by asking yourself what information is available in the video
portion but not in the dialog for the videos you have.
See note one on:
http://www.w3.org/TR/UNDERSTANDING-WCAG20/media-equiv-audio-desc-only.html
"Note 1: For 1.2.3, 1.2.5, and 1.2.7, if all of the information in
the video track is already provided in the audio track, no audio
description is necessary."
If there is little or no info, you may not need to have an audio
description, if you offer captions and transcripts (both of which you
can have done externally, at a fair price, with good accuracy).
also you don't have to do captions, transcripts or audio descriptions
if the videos are an alternative presentation on text already on the
page and are marked as such (see 1.2.1 and 1.2.2).
I am not trying to find excuses to get you out of audio description,
but I understand they are difficult, costly, and most likely require
modification to the video player you have (the ability to turn audio
description track on and off is missing from most mainstream players,
and I personally believe audio description is a very difficult AA
requirement and quite unnecessary if information is either on the page
or in the transcript).
