Nvda in other languages

Good afternoon,
We are testing accessibility of pdf documents translated from English into Russian and Chinese. I cannot get nvda to properly read the documents. In Chinese it just states âChinese letter letter letter' and in Russian it is speaking but not making any sense as our Russian translator cannot understand. Is there a critical step I am missing.
We have set the pdf document to the correct language, set the general and voice settings to the correct language in nvda. Any advice would be great.
