Embedding a PDF into a Word file - Is it still accessible?

If I have an accessible Microsoft Word file, and I "embed" an accessible
PDF file into it using the Insert > Object feature, and I add
appropriate alternative text to the inserted Object, is the new combined
Word file still accessible?

From my quick testing, It appears that users can open up the embedded
PDF file and the focus will shift from Word to whatever software their
system has configured to open PDF files. So it seems this should work?

Are there any gotchyas that I should be concerned about before going ahead?

Additional context for those who are interested: I've never tried this
solution, and don't see it as the best solution for most cases - I would
normally recommend using two separate files, or converting one or the
other file so that there is a single file in a single format. But in
this case, the PDF is a pre-existing accessible file which probably
can't be converted to an accessible Word file because of its layout. And
the client is distributing accessible Word files in order to preserve
some editability for end-users - and to avoid the work of creating
accessible PDFs.

Thoughts, advice, or warnings welcome.
