Patrick is right.
This is due to the use of the field set which indicates the beginning and end of a group of elements.

This is a setting that a user of Jaws can control.
This is nothing for you to worry about.

This can be accessed from the Jaws configuration manager.
The setting is called Web Verbosity.
The default setting is medium.

This is the description of the setting which appears there.

Use this combo box to select a Virtual Cursor verbosity level. The verbosity level determines the amount of information spoken by JAWS when the Virtual Cursor is active. Each of the three levels is preset to give a different amount of detail and can be further configured to give only the information you want to hear. The default verbosity level is Medium, which creates an optimal user experience for most websites and documents.

You can selectively configure each web verbosity level according to your preference.

You will find as you tab through the page that Jaws will speak the legend for the group when you tab to the first item in the group.
The group start and group end will be spoken only when you sequentially arrow through the page.

Each opportunity is wrapped in a <fieldset> ... </fieldset> structure -
which is correct from a structural/semantic point of view, so I'd
strongly recommend leaving them there.

Whether JAWS has a setting where you can suppress the announcement of
groups when entering/leaving them, I'm not sure I'm afraid.
