Hi Sudheer,

You've hit on the key realisation about 2.5.8 - Target size (Minimum). It's not about target size at all! It's about target spacing. The exception you quote is the key requirement - target centres have to be sufficiently spaced. Making targets big enough is only one way of doing. You can have all your targets as single pixels and still pass the SC as long as they are far enough apart.

This makes some sense given that the intent of the SC is "to help ensure targets can be easily activated without accidentally activating an adjacent target", not necessarily to ensure that targets can be easily activated first time.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [WebAIM] Query regarding WCAG 2.2 - 2.5.8 - Target size Minimum Level AA

Hi All,

I have a query regarding this WCAG criteria 2.5.8 - Target size Minimum
Level AA
where it expects the target size to be a min. of 24*24 pixels with some
exceptions.

There is a small close button on a pop up dialog that gets triggered in a
grid when activated a three dot menu on the column and measures about 12*12
px but does not have any targets nearby.

Does this fail this criteria or is good with the exception which says -

- *Spacing:* Undersized targets (those less than 24 by 24 CSS pixels)
are positioned so that if a 24 CSS pixel diameter circle is
centered on the bounding
box

of
each, the circles do not intersect another target or the circle for another
undersized target;

Thanks in advance!
