They have changed Bobby ( http://www.cast.org/bobby )so it doesn't give you
an "Approved icon" any more. I have run some accessible web pages through
Bobby and Bobby reports "Need's repaired" when you choose Web Content
Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. I have not found a page ( I have even run
some of CAST's Bobby Site pages) that it gives an approved icon any more
when you use Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. I have chosen 508
guidelines and I have got the Approved Icon but many people might not know
they need to change to this.
What is everyone's opinion of the new Bobby? Does your page get the
approved icon when you run Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0?

Boby gives you the ability to test for either WAI or 508 from the test page

I have a question:
if you use any fixed width tables at all you are NOT "bobby compliant", is
that correct?
Thanks!

You can still get the 508 approval, but not the AAA. That's what's happening
for me anyway.
The relative table width and pre-filled forms are issues with me. Sorry to
go on about the "default" value forms still, but those default values
populate my database with garbage should the person choose not to fill in
anything personal. It is really, really bothering me.

I agree completely, that's a dumb-ass requirement.
What has happened I think is:
1. Some recommendations were made for accessibility
2. Bobby automated some of the testing
3. Bobby became popular
4. Now some clients demand bobby compliance, because they want accessible
websites
5. But since bobby is just an automated tool, and has a few fairly stupid
requirements (accessibility wise, see above), now people are coding for
Bobby instead of for accessibility.
6. Result: creativity in finding better solutions for accessibility is
limited.

I haven't been reading this list for a while, so forgive me if this has been
answered (I didn't see an answer). I asked this question of the Cast folks
when the new Bobby cam out, and there are icons for all levels of approval: WAI
A, WAI AA, WAI AAA, and 508. They are detailed on
http://www.cast.org/Bobby/IconGuidelines317.cfm, which can be also be reached
by clicking "About Bobby" and the "Icon Guidelines".
