I do my testing on my development machine before I upload the files to the
server. This of course eliminates any authentication problems. I use
Aprompt from the university of Toronto( http://www.aprompt.ca/
<http://www.aprompt.ca/> ) and the Dreamweaver accessibility suite for
testing.

Yes there are alternates to bobby software but you cannot check your whole site for ADA compliance with those sites.Let me know if you want URLs for those sites.

Hi Michelle,
I am doing an evaluation of tools like Bobby that do web accessibility
testing and repair. This project is funded by ITTATC www.ittatc.org and
should be complete in the end of this month and appear on my and their web
site. The tools to be included are:
1. AccessEnable Standard from RetroAccess (http://www.retroaccess.com).
2. AccRepair from HiSoftware (http://www.hisoftware.com).
3. Bobby Worldwide from CAST (http://www.cast.org/bobby).
4. InFocus from SSB Technologies (http://www.ssbtechnologies.com).
5. LIFT Online from UsableNet (http://www.usablenet.com).
6. PageScreamer Spider from Crunchy Technologies (http://www.crunchy.com).
A preliminary discussion of two of the tools and my assessment of what can
be tested by software is on my site at http://jimthatcher.com/er2.htm.

Another thought : A Note on independent reviews of Accessibility test
management tools
For people interested on a position paper and truly independent review:
Forrester Research identifies HiSoftware as having the most advanced
tools for accessibility, with complete testing & repair solutions in
it's "Design Accessible Sites Now" report. To order a copy of the
Forrester Report, please visit:

Perhaps an organization like ITTATC (Information Technology Technical
Assistance and Training Center, Georgia Tech, <http://www.ittatc.org/>
http://www.ittatc.org). could commission one of these firms that are
fully qualified to do an independent review.
By Qualified I mean:
- Independent: No Conflict of interest
- Prepared: Full test lab and qualified test teams for platforms an
technologies required to test
- Trained: in testing methodologies and tools
This is far to important to just say that because one knows
accessibility or a screen reader or an OS or Java, etc, that they can
perform a full imparti
