Subject: Add This Toolbar and Accessibility?

A design team hired to design our next site wants to use 'AddThis' for
the share tool bar.

I certainly am no expert in keyboarding or using a screen reader, but
I had difficulty getting the sample to work with NVDA screen reader
also without a mouse. Of the 5 items, I could only access 2 of the
items in the toolbar.

Has anyone run across this before?
Here is a link to the homepage: http://www.addthis.com/

Thanks in advance,

Nancy Johnson

I have run across this sharing tool several times because of this issue. There is way of enabling section 508 support, which I understand makes the addthis tool keyboard accessible and non-JavaScript compliant. This is set via a flag detailed on this page: http://www.addthis.com/help/client-api

However, a client was using this toolbar recently and I raised the issue of both keyboard and screenreader accessibility. They tried setting the flag as detailed above to enable 508 compliant mode and it did not work. This is a known issue by all accounts, and there has been some discussion on the addthis forum, with responses from staff, at http://www.addthis.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&;t=1632&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&sid=5539c713ccce139d8bcf6dfd65b0517a&start=17

So it seems there is a solution, or at least a fix of a previous solution, in the pipeline, but no ETA on it as yet.
