Thanks very much to Jennifer Sutton for keeping the project on track and Joe Dolson for the inside scoop on the WordPress accessibility process I'm announcing my latest project: Cities.

Cities will build free accessible WordPress themes.

WebAIM list:

Thanks, Joseph, for mentioning me. I think this project has great
potential, and I especially wanted to be sure it was mentioned on the
WebAIM list since the topic of WordPress comes up so frequently.

Note that I have changed the subject line, a bit, to help the thread
show up when searching the archives.

Good luck to all who participate in helping to make WordPress more accessible.

Jennifer and Joe,
This is such a worthwhile project. I have found that in many many cases,
the theme developers I have talked with are just not aware of the reasons
to make their work accessible or they really don't know what the standards
or requirements are and think that their work is accessible.

In a very few cases, developers just haven't cared, telling me that the
market isn't asking for accessible themes (or plugins), so why should they
bother making changes or learning new things.

I think the more that this is talked about in wider circles, the better off
we're all going to be.

Thanks so much for creating the project and drawing attention to it!
