Subject: Seeking Informational Interviews with Accessibility Professionals

Hello Everyone,

I am looking to enter the accessibility field on a professional basis
after many years of advocacy work. My goal is to focus on testing apps
and websites for non-visual accessibility and referring developers to
the resources necessary to improve their accessibility.

I would like to determine the educational path that would work best
for me: which Bachelor's degree I should earn and which certifications
might be most helpful to achieve professional success.

If possible, I would like to speak with accessibility professionals to
conduct a short informational interview.

If anyone would be interested, I would appreciate it if you would

Agreed! I am in a similar situation, as a career-changing graduate student
looking for more information on jobs in assistive technology (AT) and
accessibility for 508/WCAG. While I was a systems admin in a past life, I
was definitely not a programmer! (I then got my M.S. in Special Education,
and am in a Ph.D program for Special Education, focusing on AT.) I'm not
quite sure where I'm going to go after this program... (Section 508/WCAG
testing vs AT Specialist services; and whether I go to direct services or
academia and teaching.)

I totally understand if interviewees prefer anonymity, however! A basic
overview, "most people said that <degree || certification> is <required ||
not required> in the field," kind of a thing would still be incredibly
helpful! :)
