Hello everyone,

as I couldn't find any specific guidelines, I was wondering if there are
any recommendations for  the quality of sign language videos.

We have short videos that translate an introduction of our application
and explain the navigation etc. into sign language and came across that
question when we were discussing on how to compress the videos for easy
mobile use.

Thank you everyone for suggestions and sharing their experiences.

Regards Miriam

Hi Miriam,

So in terms of quality, you mean compression, video length and width-that
sort of thing?

Cheers

Hi Lisa,

thanks, yes exactly, mainly compression and quality options.
For width, we would work with what the device has available to have it
as big as possible.
And for length, we have one video for every topic.

Kind Regards Miriam

Okay, thanks.

I have these three bookmarked and have used them in the past. I think there
is one more I have used in the past, can't find it on my new computer (I
hope someone will chime in).

https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20-TECHS/G160.html

For the videos I have seen, they are regular YouTube sized-and as good
quality as possible (so that the user can choose a lesser quality if their
internet isn't great-which is an issue for many in North America). Size can
vary, as again people may not have great internet. I am not 100% sure I
have seen compression in best practices, but I may be wrong. I did this
research a couple of years before the pandemic, and it seems like eons ago!

Cheers

Lisa
