Hey y'all.

I have a few people on one of my teams who want to explore the
Acccessibility Trusted Tester certification.
One of them said the training was unavailable when he tried, and it looks
like the DHS is facing budget cuts.

Does anyone here have an idea about where this program is currently or has
anyone got this certification lately?
Thanks muchly
-Birkir

Birkir,

I completed the TT process in 2020. Back then I'd occasionally reach out to this email address for assistance:

They were usually responsive in a timely manner. There is also a regular thread I'm on regarding the ANDI testing tool (bookmarklet) that is used in the Trusted Tester process with recent conversations in the past week.

The current administration it was rumored, was going to cut or eliminate civil rights work at DHS so perhaps that is happening and limiting activities, I don't know.

Actually, the way that the new administration is cutting things.
It very well might not be available at this moment.
I do know as a screen reader user, however, that the course is not accessible if you are screen reader user, you have to have cited assistance in order to take the course

So how do we get it back?

I hope that the Trusted Tester program has been terminated because it mandates a terrible testing methodology that is almost guaranteed to give incorrect results. I say "almost guaranteed" because I can't rule out the possibility that it might occasionally give accurate results by pure chance.

I would support training that teaches a more accurate methodology, but such a course would be much longer, more difficult and more expensive. However, that's the cost of doing the job properly.

Birkir
I have 3 colleagues that have finished TrustedTester in the past few weeks,
or are currently taking it and haven't heard of issues. I think the system
goes down for maintenance at least monthly, so your people may have hit it
at the wrong time.

Speaking from Washington DC, there has been many "reductions" to DHS over the past few weeks, but I didn't hear anything about the Trusted Program.

Checking DHS's website, it was difficult to find basic information about the program itself, but using the search field came up with several hundred pages of related content.

So at least much of the information is still on the web, but I'm not sure about the office itself.
