Our client wants to send us tagged redacted files. But they cannot figure
out how to do both. Here's their/our dilemma:
We have encountered a situation where a document is signed and is
considered locked for editing. However subsequently it needs to be
redacted. This apparently deletes the tagging. Unfortunately these steps
cannot be altered and need to be carried out in that order. Can we ensure
the tags are retained, or are we relegated to autotagging the documents?

Looking forward to some suggestions.

Adobe has changed how redaction works in the latest versions of Acrobat.
After selecting the text/graphics you want to redact, you must:

1. Right-click on the redacted black box and select Apply Redaction.
2. De-select the option to Sanitize the file.

Sanitizing the file removes all the tags from the PDF and you'll then have to re-tag it afterwards, either manually or with AutoTag (gah!).
